Molly

The Founder of Carve Out Courage

Molly was born on Valentine’s day with a severe unilateral cleft lip and bilateral cleft palate. She was also born courageous, beaming with light and a natural ability to touch hearts! When Molly was five, and in preschool, she was bullied because of her cleft lip and palate scars. The stress from bullying triggered her autoimmune disease, alopecia areata, which later developed into alopecia universalis at just eight years old. Her cleft lip and palate and alopecia are not linked.

Molly struggled. She lost all of her hair in a very short time of about 5 weeks and no longer wanted to leave the safety of her house. Yet, with support from family, friends and even strangers, she found her way again. She now describes these tough times as “Carving Out Courage” and thus how this foundation was born. She is an example of resilience- triumph over adversity. She believes she is exactly as she is meant to be. She has a purpose and a mission to Carve Out Courage across the country and foster resilience in kids everywhere.
